LMH Covid-19 Lockdown NewsClosure

The temporary closure of Lee Memorial hall is expected to continue for the duration of relevant government lockdown restrictions.  In the meantime, we are still open for bookings for future events.  We already have a number of reservations for wedding receptions in 2021.  If you would like to discuss requirements for similar or other future events, please ring our bookings secretary on (01271) 269 751.

Planned work on replacing the hall floor has been successfully undertaken in March and April, with our contractors working to government guidelines.  The flooring is now complete and we are very pleased with the results.  As you might expect, the whole building will require a major spring clean before we reopen for events.  As this will be done by volunteers, it cannot commence until the lockdown regulations are suitably relaxed.  We expect the hall to reopen to the public for events around three weeks after we are allowed back in.

Play Area

Now the weather has improved and the meadow is able to start drying out, we are making plans for the replacement of the play area equipment later in the year.

Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting was originally planned for early May.  We have considered ways we might organise it without calling a public meeting, but have decided it is better to postpone until later in the year.  Our Constitution requires the next meeting to be within 18 months of the previous one – which in theory takes us to October.  In the meantime, the current committee will continue to manage things.

Village Events

People will be aware that we will not be holding our Spring Fair on the May Bank Holiday Monday.  However, we are considering the possibility of holding a similar event later in the year.  Likewise, we are keeping our options open with regard to the Arts & Crafts Fair in August.  All will depend on how matters develop over the coming weeks, and we will rely on the best scientific evidence available when making our decisions!
