LMH Covid-19 Lockdown NewsClosure

Note that from Thursday 5th November 2020 the Memorial Hall will be closed until the recent government Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.  We are, however, happy to take provisional bookings for future events.

Work on ensuring the hall achieved 'Covid-19 Secure' status was completed in early October, and the hall briefly re-opened.  However, following the introduction of further restrictions, the hall will be closed from 5th November until those restrictions are lifted. Even then, we anticipate, government advice, and in some cases regulation, mean it will not be possible to return fully to pre-Covid-19 conditions, although we hope users will still be able to enjoy using the hall in spite of what we hope will be temporary constraints.

The following documents are intended to help potential hirers understand what action they, and the hall trustees will need to take to keep users safe:

If you would like to discuss requirements for other future events, please ring our Chair on (01271) 863 093.

Planned work on replacing the hall floor was successfully undertaken in March and April, with our contractors working to government guidelines.  The flooring is now complete and we are very pleased with the results.

Plans are in hand for a major clean following this work, but for the moment we do not consider there is sufficient demand from hall users to implement the full Covid-19 cleaning and other requirements necessary at present to open the hall to the public.  In the meantime we shall keep this policy under review.

Play Area

A new play area has been installed and is now open for use.  However, in order to comply with Covid-19 regulations and recommendations please could users take note of the following:

  • This Play Area is not supervised, and equipment is not regularly cleaned.
  • Social distancing of 2m MUST always be maintained (or 1m with risk mitigation where 1m is not possible).
  • Only one child is allowed on each piece of equipment at a time.
  • No eating or drinking in the playground
  • Parents/Carers: You will need to clean the equipment before your child uses it. Use hand sanitiser or wipes to clean your children’s hands before and after use.
  • Do not touch your face. Remember to cough or sneeze into a tissue. Take tissues home or put them into the bins provided (use an arm if a tissue is not available).
  • Children’s clothes should be washed when they get home.
  • Families with clinically vulnerable members: Do NOT use the equipment without first cleaning it.

Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting was originally planned for early May.  We have considered ways we might organise it without calling a public meeting, but have decided it is better to postpone until later in the year.  Our Constitution requires the next meeting to be within 18 months of the previous one – which in theory takes us to October.  In the meantime, the current committee will continue to manage things.

Village Events

People will be aware that we did not hold our annual Spring Fair on the May Bank Holiday Monday.  Likewise the decision was made not to hold the July Flower Show or August Arts & Crafts Fair in 2020.
